This week is the letter G and I'm doing a fact full report on gorillas which are also known as apes.

Fantastic fact 1:

Did you know gorillas are primates?

Like all primates they have forward-facing eyes, a big brain and hands that grip.

Gorilla's don't have a tail.

Fantastic Fact 5:

The gorilla is the worlds biggest ape.

It is a tiny bit taller that us, but usually three times heavier.

Adult male gorillas are called silver back gorillas because of the silvery grey fur on their backs and face.

Gorillas use sign language! Wild gorillas communicate using grunts and body language.

DID YOU KNOW??

A gorilla called Koko learnt proper sign language as used by people who are deaf.

Fantastic fact 8:

It's not just birds who sleep in nests, huge gorillas do too!

They bend branches in bushes and trees and make a cosy bed just above the ground.

A Sad Fact:(

Gorillas are becoming endangered due to the habitat that they live in being destroyed by man and turning it into farm land! :(
